Theological Research and Writing: 4. Finding Sources

A Guide to Cutting Edge Critical Thinking; Cutting Edge Research and Writing at BMATS

When you're finished here...

Before you move on to the next page, you will:

  • Know how to find relevant information sources via theological bibliography.
  • Know how to find relevant information sources via information retrieval.

The two ways to search for information.

Bibliography: The bibliographic approach is the process of using scholarly bibliographies and references in scholarly works to find other references to sources on your topic.  Simply put, you will use books (or articles, etc) to find books.

Information Retrieval: The other way is information retrieval.  On this path you will use search terms to find and retrieve information from library catalogs, online databases, and other information retrieval systems.
